Fresh off a historic NBA Finals showdown, reigning champions Toronto Raptors and runners-up Golden State Warriors are already being counted out of contention before the season even starts.
Both teams saw their respective best players leave this summer, with the Warriors also losing one of their top gunner, Klay Thompson, for majority of the basketball calendar to an ACL injury. The arrival of D'Angelo Russell and Draymond Green calling people "crazy" for saying Golden State isn't going to make the playoffs did little to sway minds.
Doubters seem to forget this dude:
After a so-so preseason effort against the Lakers five days ago, Stephen Curry reminded everyone that it ain't over til it's over for the Dubs by shooting the lights out in a 143-123 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The two-time MVP poured 40 points on 14-of-19 shooting in a mere 25 minutes and three quarters of playing time — on top of an ominous six rebounds, six assists, and six threes.
Steph's name was among the trending topics on Twitter Friday morning, and for good reason. Social media was filled with his stats, some interesting trivia about the scoring barrage, and clips of his ridiculously hot start.
The scariest part about the whole thing, though, was how happy Steph looked the entire time he was torching the Wolves. Even in the face of great perimeter stoppers Robert Covington and Josh Okogie, the greatest shooter in NBA history had his way on offense like it was just another day in the office.
The image of him toying with defenders then swishing three after three after three should be enough proof that Steph and GSW aren't about to wave the white flag yet.
This is how you do a warning, Lakers.
