Dates shouldn't just be about the sweet nothings and all that cuddly stuff; having some action also helps reinforce the relationship.

IT can get relaxing when you're with your SO and while it’s absolutely tempting to cozy up and binge eat for the rest of the day, you know it’s not healthy. What’s more, it may even get you into a spiral of unhealthy habits before you can even catch it. In the spirit of love and all the fluffy stuff, here are some tips to keep your relationship interesting and exciting. Pro tip: You don’t have to do everything on the 14th for it to count.

Go for a hike or a bike ride.

Or maybe even both. This isn’t just to get your blood pumping, it’s also great quality time spent together. Depending on your level of experience, you could pick a spot with a stunning view or take a less challenging route.

Join an online travel hiking group and ask around for “basic trails” that you can try out. You may also ask your travel enthusiast friends if they have any suggestions for beginners.

Watch a game near you.

If you’re both fans of a particular sport, consider buying tickets to a game and call it a date. If neither of you is a fan, you’re still likely to have a great time, especially if you join in the enthusiasm of other fans. This is also a great way to explore other things that you haven’t considered before.

Play a game or two (or lots) of tennis.

Tennis is a great date activity for couples who already know each other well because it tests your ability to work together if you’re on the same team. If you’re on the opposite sides of the court, it’s a great way to unleash your competitive side while being friendly about it.

Have a friendly competition via laser tag.

Nothing beats the competitive streak like laser tag. You can play with a fun and challenging game of supposedly shooting your opponents without taking too much dedication or planning in the process. Aside from that, it’s a great way to inject some playful energy into your date. Cue in the teasing from the winning team.

Try a new sport together, such as rock climbing or paddleboarding.

If you’ve been together for quite some time now, trying a new sport together can keep things interesting while exploring possible hobbies that may turn into a passion over time. It doesn’t have to be a complex sport, even the ones that you’ve been curious about for the longest time can be a great idea.

Join a recreational sports group or attend a casual game session.

Local recreational sports groups are often friendly and open. They are also perfect for getting to know each other and having some fun, especially if you’ve just started dating. A lot of areas have dedicated “unofficial groups” for these activities and usually regularly meet for casual games.

Take a dance class together, such as salsa or swing.

Dancing is an awesome way to get your endorphins pumping while showing off your dance moves. Plus, you have the chance to learn a new skill and create a few new memories.

If you’re a bit hesitant because you don’t think you have the right moves, just think of it as both of you trying out something new together while being silly. After all, humor is also a great way to spice up a relationship.

Participate in a charity fun run or walk.

If you’re both into charity and giving back to the community, then a charity fun run or walk is a good choice. You can also get some fresh air, meet some people who support the same cause, and have a great time.

Go ice-skating or roller-skating.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a great pick if you want to try an activity at least once. If one of you knows their way around the rinks already, that person may be the one to teach their partner about the basics. It may take more than a day to master the fundamentals but it’s worth it.

Take a scenic drive and stop at vistas to play frisbee.

There’s nothing quite like taking a drive through the wide outdoors and getting a glimpse of nature. Add a bit of fun to the adventure by bringing a frisbee and having a friendly game of catch in between stopovers if the space allows it.
