SPIN.ph photographer Mark Cristino won silver in the basketball category of the 2026 World Sports Photography awards, the world's biggest and most prestigious sports competition.
Cristino's photo for SPIN.ph on NorthPort import Kadeem Jack titled 'Angry Ball' was given the spotlight in this year's edition of the awards, beating out all but one from the hundreds of photos nominated in the category.

'Angry Ball' was one of the four photos Cristino submitted for the basketball category - sharing that he picked it randomly for being "something different."
The judges certainly appreciated the photo's quirkiness by awarding the photo the silver medal.

Bob Donnan took gold with his photo titled 'Breakaway for the lead' while another American freelance photographer, Andrew Hancock, won bronze with his photo 'Ferocious Block'.
Cristino has been working for SPIN.ph since 2025 after working for the European Pressphoto Agency. He covers all major sports events in the Philippines for the publication while focusing on the PBA as his main coverage.
