SARAH Geronimo, The Dawn, and Ben&Ben will perform at the Philippine Arena during opening day of the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup, local organizers said on Wednesday.
The performers for the August 25 event were revealed during the second inter-agency meeting for the global showcase held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The show will be held before Gilas Pilipinas faces the Dominican Republic to open its campaign in the World Cup that has the Philippines as the main host.
“We will have a big opening show. As we have shared in the meeting this morning, the show will be spearheaded by Sarah Geronimo, The Dawn, and Ben&Ben. That will be a big opening show at the Philippine Arena right before the Gilas-Dominican Republic game,” said John Lucas, head of the joint management committee of the country’s hosting of the Fiba Basketball World Cup.
Geronimo will be involved in the Philippines’ staging of the Fiba Basketball World Cup for the second time after performing in the draw ceremony held last April at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The lone playdate at the Philippine Arena hopes to draw the biggest crowd in the tournament’s history, with the current record at 32,616 when the United States won over Russia for the 1994 title held at the Skydome in Toronto.
Non-game events will also be staged before and during the Fiba Basketball World Cup that will surely entertain the fans, according to the organizers.
“This is really a lot of activities beyond the games that they will be watching. We will have a lot of surprises and activities before the World Cup,” said Lucas.
