For many, the endlessly looping 'Manila' during last night's SEA Games opening gave them some serious LSS.
In the case of Sara Duterte, it got her annoyed.
"Di po ba Philippine flag ang dala? Why would you play the song Manila?" wrote the Davao mayor in an Instagram post, questioning the use of the city-centric song in an event that showcased the entire country. "Did Lapu-Lapu die for Manila?"
The 1976 classic by the band Hotdog was played at the Philippine Arena when the Philippine delegation emerged for the traditional parade of athletes.
It's no excuse, she wrote, that it's an "upbeat danceable song." (Her father would know — the president was spotted grooving to the tune as the athletes marched down the Philippine Arena stage with muse Pia Wurtzbach.)
Sara Duterte added: " We should be inclusive when we want to encourage our countrymen to cheer."
