IT’S not every day that basketball players become TV commercial models but when they do, they give it their best shot.
San Miguel backcourt tandem Chris Ross and Terrence Romeo were on the latest TV commercial for the brand's Super Dry variant, posted on the San Miguel Beermen Facebook page.
Ross played a bouncer while Romeo a gentleman who let a girl in a bar. They shared with SPIN.ph how they got the roles.
“Well, when we first went in [the shoot] they asked me and Terrence [which role we liked]. There’s gonna be a guy that’s getting the girl in, and a bouncer,” Ross recalled.
“I said I’m gonna be the bouncer. I knew the bouncer would have the least amount of lines and the least amount of words,” he added.
If Ross were to rate himself, he’s definitely ready for bigger roles beyond just in TVCs.
“It was good, it was good. It only took us a day [to shoot the commercial] and it was cool. The director was easy on us and the assistant director, she was amazing, she kinda walked us through everything and taught us everything,” he said.
“So it was a walk in the park. I think I’m ready for the big screen though. I need a major role now, whoever’s ready for me come and get me,” Ross added drawing laughter from a handful of reporters.
Romeo, on the other hand, was a little timid talking about the commercial.
“Nailang nga ako kasi hindi naman tayo pang ganun pero nagpapasalamat ako kay boss RSA [Ramon S. Ang, San Miguel corp. president and CEO] sa pagtitiwala na mapasama ako sa commercial,” he said.
“Magpa-practice pa ako para sa susunod na may ganito [commercial] mas magaling na ako,” he added.
