UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas star Sisi Rondina's parents won't be around in her first and only finals appearance in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
Rondina has used most of her savings to purchase a house for her family in a subdivision in Compostella, Cebu and would rather spend for upgrades than buy tickets to Manila for Sisi's UAAP Finals debut.
That’s why walang (budget sa pamasahe),” said the newly named Season 81 MVP.
Rondina would've wanted to have her parents around in her shining moment, but said it's a matter of priorities.
The Cebuana star said she has saved up for a house from her savings earned from stints with club team Petron in the Philippine Superliga and in beach volleyball tournaments.
“It’s good for my family. Kasi in demand ang lupa na yun,” said the four-time UAAP beach volleyball champion and MVP.
So baka next year or ngayong December kami (makakalipat). Basta ngayon inuunti-unti ko lang,” she added
At age 22, Rondina is already embracing the role of breadwinner to her parents Arnold and Alona and three sisters.
Ayokong ma-behind yung family ko,” the Cebuana said. “Gusto ko lang talaga sa buhay to pay back what my parents gave me.
The sports wellness and management student also wants to land a stable job that would enable her to support her family.
Stable na trabaho,” Rondina said.
From a little-known rookie back, Rondina has turned into a superstar in the indoor and beach game, yet remains the same loving and caring daughter for her parents.
It's her purpose in life, Sisi said.
That’s why she will never stop giving her all for her family whatever happens.
