It didn't take long for rookie Rhenz Abando to make his presence felt in the collegiate stage, as he put together a string of solid performances that caught the attention of UST alum Cherry Ann Rondina.
Sisi has expressed admiration for her fellow high-flyer on Twitter ever since.
"Na-motivate ako dun, nakaka-wow kasi si Ate Sisi 'yun. Pag sinabi mong Rondina, mukha ng UST 'yun, 'di ba? So, nakaka-hype lang," said Renz, who was named UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week after averaging 17 points.
He revealed that he used to play volleyball when he was younger, which is why he considers the star skipper his role model. He is also looking forward to forging a freindship with his Ate Sisi.
"Idol ko rin kasi siya eh, sa volleyball. Naglalaru-laro rin kasi ako dati," Renz shared. "Kilala ko lang siya, pero sana maging mas close kami. Sisi Rondina 'yan eh."
Despite his blazing start, the super rookie is aware that he still needs to work on his game, especially after Ateneo scraped past UST, 71-70, on Wednesday.
Renz admitted, "Ginanahan ako [because of her positive tweets], pero kulang pa rin 'yung ginawa ko ngayon. Marami pang kailangan trabahuhin."
