DISNEY HAS now full control of majority of Marvel's most iconic characters as it recently purchased 20th Century Fox.

This means one thing: DEADPOOL IS NOW IN THE MCU! WOOHOO!

That's right! The merc with a mouth, together with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine are bound to be featured with the Avengers sometime in the future and this was hinted in some scenes in Marvel's latest film Deadpool and Wolverine.

With the full extent of Marvel's infinity movie production stones, the studio can go all out in whatever multiverse crossover shenanigans that would happen in future installments.

And that is exactly what happened in Deadpool and Wolverine.

A nod to the old Marvel films

One thing is certain about the latest Deadpool film, your jaws will reach the floor in certain scenes.

And why is that the case? There were a lot of easter eggs and references from Marvel films of the past which we won't disclose as this would ruin the surprise.

There were even jokes centered on these old films that we grew up with, which seem to be Marvel's jab on 20th Century Fox, but a closer look will make fans realize that Marvel actually paid tribute to their efforts.

Afterall, Marvel learned a lot from their early attempts of promoting their characters into the big stage and those reflections would eventually yield to the creation of the Cinematic Universe that led to the studios' renaissance.

Breaking the 4th wall to perfection

But not everything about the Cinematic Universe has always been glorified as the franchise is currently experiencing a downturn given that the latest MCU films are now criticized.

So how did Marvel respond to that? Since Deadpool is known to break the 4th wall in the comics, the studio decided to apply that concept and give him the greenlight to throw shade on Marvel's recent approach.

As usual Ryan Reynolds was savage with his delivery, and he even made us believe that he will turn out to be "Marvel Jesus."

From the beginning all the way to the end, Deadpool and Wolverine's 4th wall breaking antics have produced a lot of gags, and thank goodness Marvel gave director Shawn Levy the avenue to maximize his creativity by allowing him to capitalize on Deadpool's character in light of the recent flaws of the MCU.

This also leaves a lot of room makes us wonder what wil happen when Deadpool officially joins forces with the Avengers.

With his ability to break the 4th wall, will he truly be the star of the show over the other MCU heroes?

Are the villains properly written?

While Deadpool and Wolverine has hit the mark in terms of its humor, its references from the past, as well as the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the question remains: Has the film addressed the usual MCU problems centered on its villains?

The MCU has produced some of the most memorable fleshed out villains as seen from the likes of Thanos, Loki, and Killmonger, with the former two having a plethora of screentime, allowing fans to learn more about them, while the latter having limited appearances, yet managed to captivate the community due to his backstory.

Does Cassandra Nova follow into the footsteps of these iconic villains? Despite being one of the most threatening villains in the comic books given how she gave Professor Charles Xavier and the X-Men a lot of problems, Nova is like the rest of the MCU villains: forgettable.

Nova could've been one for the books especially since Wolverine had a tragic backstory and a strong relationship with Charles Xavier, that could be further explored since Nova has a profound connection with Xavier. While there was some exposition which hinted their relationship, this remained brief.

In the end Deadpool and Wolverine focused heavily on its humor and the main characters, which has indeed worked wonders as we were left laughing at the edge of our seats, while showing sympathy to two characters who were determined to redeem themselves from their past failures.

But at the same time, the film could've fleshed out some of the finer details.

CONCLUSION

Did Marvel live up to the bill of Deadpool serving as the messiah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

That was one of the central themes of the film which was explored even until the end, a perfect way to maximize the 4th wall, as both Deadpool and Wolverine ended up saving the Marvel Universe not only inside the film, but also in terms of the franchise's reputation.

While the film manages to leave a good impression, it still has some loopholes in terms of its plot and narrative, as it heavily leaned towards its Easter eggs and its humor.

But these flaws didn't ruin the film as Deadpool and Wolverine was an enjoyable ride which made us pumped up to say: "Let's f**king go!"
