RUDY Gobert didn't mince words on Fiba's ill-timed drug test, saying basketball's governing body showed "no respect for the player's recovery time" in a tweet.
Just hours after the Utah Jazz center and his French team narrowly beat Germany, 78-74, on Sunday at the World Cup in China, he was woken up for the test and had his blood and urine samples taken "when (he) could sleep more."
The two-time and reigning Defensive Player of the Year had reason to be physically sore, as he anchored the middle for France and finished with nine points, nine rebounds, and a game-high five blocks in 30 and a half minutes of playing time.
While netizens are divided on another one of Rudy's online gripes, Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell of Team USA couldn't help but tease the Stifle Tower.
Others joined Spida in poking fun at the situation, with some even coming up with memes about the way the Gobert's sleep was disturbed.
Not everyone was a fan of his constantly "crying" on Twitter, though. Eurohoops pointed out that doping tests are under the World Anti-Doping Agency and not Fiba.
In the end, fans told the French beanpole's that he may have been too dominant against the Germans, which resulted in the curious timing of the drug test.
Gilas Pilipinas player Kiefer Ravena, who recently returned from an 18-month Fiba suspension, can relate to Gobert.
The former was selected for his second random doping test four days into the tournament. He said, "I was a little surprised, my name being there (again), but like I said, I don’t take it personally."
