RAYMOND Almazan has apologized to the Department of Transportation for committing a traffic violation of passing through the Edsa Busway in an unathorized vehicle.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said Almazan went to the DOTr office to personally apologize.
DZRH News also posted on its Facebook page a report on Almazan’s visit to the DOTr where he issued a brief statement to news reporters.
“Talagang mali ako,” said Almazan, as per DZRH. “Dapat hindi pamarisan. Let’s just follow the rules para walang problema. Kung nag-follow ako sa rules, hindi sana ako nagka-ganito.”
Almazan no longer touched on the allegation made by the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation that he attempted to bribe an enforcer.
Almazan was slapped with a one-game suspension by the PBA for the incident, whch he said violated the Uniform Players’ Contract where players are expected to conduct themselves in a “proper and respectful manner, in good demeanor, and worthy of emulation from the public.”
Almazan served the suspension on Sunday in Meralco's 104-99 defeat to Converge, the FiberXers’ first win of the conference.
The Meralco big man is now eligible to play for the Bolts’ encounter against Phoenix on Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
