RAPPER Third Flo’, who grew up as a basketball fan in the streets of Tondo, dropped the track “Mentalidad ng Mamba” right in time for Mamba Week.

Listen to the track below:

The track, which clocks in at a lean 2:19, features R&B artist Gfab, and incorporates samples from Kobe Bryant’s inspiring speeches. Here’s a sample lyric: “Gagawin na lang ang imposible / resulta na lang ang magsasabi / sa ngalan ng pangalan karangalan iiwanan / isang daan ibibigay sa laban / mentalidad ng Mamba.

“Third Flo' has been working on this song since the news [of Kobe’s death],” his manager Bong Andres told SPIN Life. “He was waiting for Warner [Music] to release him from the contract last March, so he kept this from them.”

Added Andres: “He sparked a bidding amongst labels including Def Jam PH, but decided to go full independent.”

As a newly independent artist, Third Flo’ released the track on Kobe Bryant’s birthday yesterday.

While not necessarily a Lakers fan, Third Flo’ has drawn inspiration for his verses from his love for basketball and his hometown of Tondo.

In 2017, he released a track called “Mala Abueva”, inspired by Calvin "The Beast" Abueva, and his 2018 track “Teritoryo", where he raps about the mean streets of the city he grew up in, was nominated for a Wish Bus Award and an Awit Award.

Aside from being a rapper, Andres told SPIN Life that Flo’ also runs a clothing shop called Street Code, as well as the apparel company Tondo Supply.
