FILIPINOS LIVE FOR FRIED CHICKEN, and Ramon Ang knows it. On October 12, the San Miguel boss opened a massive state-of-the-art poultry production facility in Davao del Sur, making a significant stride in ensuring the country's food security.
The massive facility, which cost P3.34 billion to build, is equipped with internal climate—control technology, an atmosphere quality control system, an automated feeding system, a watering system, and an automated harvesting system—ensuring the chickens are healthy, clean, and comfortable in the facility.
The facility will enable San Miguel Corporation to produce over 80 million high-quality and healthy chickens every year, which it uses for its Magnolia Chicken, a leading poultry provider in the country.
The facility was built in response to President Bongbong Marcos's appeal to the private sector to help ensure food security.
“Noong tinawagan ng Presidente ang taong-bayan, pati ako pinagsabihan niya personally na magtulong-tulong tayo to produce locally produced food, to make sure na walang magutom na Pilipino, walang magugutom na kababayan natin at murang pagkain, high quality pang pagkain,” Ang said during the inauguration of the facility on October 12.
The Davao del Sur facility is only the first in 12 poultry facilities Ramon Ang plans to build around the Philippines.
