THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) on Monday hailed two of its personnel for the honesty they exemplified during the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
PSC chairman William Ramirez honored cleaner Marilou Mae Perez and security officer Jonar Masigan during the agency’s flag-raising ceremony on Monday after they returned valuables during the staging of the SEA Games.
Perez found cash inside a toilet cubicle in the female restroom at the Philsports Arena last December 6. The money was owned by an Indonesian spectator.
Masigan also found a wallet at the spectators’ area at the same venue. The wallet contained ATM cards, credit cards, and USD $1,500.
Ramirez gave P20,000 each to Perez and Masigan as reward.
“Not everything is about the medals and accolades. There are also stories about people like them who show the kind nature of the Filipino people. Iyan ang isa sa bumubuo ng mga ipapamana nating alaala sa SEA Games 2019,” said Ramirez.
