POKEMON FANS would surely rejoice upon learning that Pope Leo XIV signed a Pokemon trading card during a Danish Youth Group’s visit to the Vatican.
A diehard Pokemon fan from the Diocese of Copenhagen, Denmark, who goes by the Reddit username ReptileCake approached Pope Leo with two trading cards.
Two ‘Popplio’ cards were given to the head of the Vatican who decided to bless the holographic version, and signed the other one.
With Pope Leo signing one of these Pokemon cards, questions could be raised as to the overall value of these items. Given their rarity, perhaps they could rival a legendary Pokemon?
However on Reddit, ReptileCake revealed that he has no intention of selling these cards.
“Nope, I'll never intend to get rid of the card, it is my personal artefact and I will cherish it in sleeve and one-touch UV slab.”
He further explained: “I don't want to grade it, it's just a funny joke that his Holiness indulged in with me, that's worth more than any monetary value can satisfy.”
For starters, Popplio is one of the starter Pokemons players can select in Pokemon Sun and Moon. As players progress through their Pokemon journey, this water type can evolve into Brionne and Primarina.
Besides Popplio, players may also opt to select Rowlet and Litten as their starters.
