The women’s squad placed No. 12 in the previous edition of the world championships in 2024 in Pingtan, China - the second-best Asian performer in the tournament, and the federation is eyeing another strong finish this year.
The men’s team is also coming off a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Beach Handball Championships last year in Suphanburi, Thailand.
The women’s beach handball team is being coached by Joanna Franquelli, who has also been instrumental in the success of the squad over the years.
The men’s beach handball teams also won a bronze and silver at the 2019 and 2021 Southeast Asian Games, respectively.
