MOUNT EVEREST has taken a lot of lives and recently a Filipino Engineer named Philipp “PJ” Santiago II passed away as he tried to chase the dream of reaching the peak of the highest mountain in the world. As of now, Everest stands at 8,849 m (29,035 feet) with freezing temperatures that could reach beyond -30 degrees celsius.

But despite the harsh conditions, the Filipino resolve remains intact and recently three mountaineers were able to reach the summit.

Days after the tragic death of PJ Santiago II, Rhisael "Ric" Rabe was able to conquer Mt. Everest. The announcements were made on social media.

"Congratulations Mr. Rhisael "Ric" Rabe! On May 15, 2025, at exactly 7:15 AM, Ric stood on the summit of Mt. Everest, the highest point on Earth," said the post.

With his accomplishment, Rabe becomes the ninth Filipino to reach the summit of Mt. Everest, the first since Regie Pablo on May 17, 2007.
