ANGELES CITY – The PBA will finally allow fans to be in the Philippine Cup games virtually starting on Oct. 19.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league is already coordinating how to go about allowing fans to join the virtual audience inside the Angeles University Foundation gym.
The Oct. 19 doubleheader features TnT Tropang Giga vs. Phoenix in the 4 p.m. opening match followed by the San Miguel-Terrafirma encounter in the 6:45 p.m. main game.
“Starting Oct. 19 magpapasok na tayo (ng fans),” said Marcial Sunday during the formal restart of the season.
“Yung mechanics pinag-uusapan pa natin with TV5 kung paano ang execution.”
But Marcial said the virtual audience can accommodate as many as 250 people.
“Ang sinabi sa akin ng TV5, mga 250 per game ang puwedeng ipasok,” said the commissioner. “Tignan natin kung ilan ang mapapasok natin na fans.”
Also part of the virtual audience are team members left behind, loved ones, board of governors, and sponsors.
“Dahan-dahan nating sasabihin sa social media natin kung paano sila makakapasok,” said Marcial.
For the first few playing days, select members of the PBA family will be allowed as part of the virtual fans as was the case during Sunday’s opening doubleheader.
“Parang practice pa lang ito. Tinitimpla pa lang namin,” said Marcial.
