PLAYERS of San Miguel Beer, TnT Katropa, and Blackwater are not only physically preparing for the next week’s East Asia League Terrific 12 in Macau.
They’re also getting familiar with the language.
Beermen June Mar Fajardo, Terrence Romeo, and Arwind Santos, Katropa’s Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario, along with Elite’s Mac Belo, Allein Maliksi, Raphael Banal, and Diego Dario did some Chinese talking by taking on the Cantonese Challenge as part of the promotion for the Sept. 17-22 meet at the Tap Seac Multisports Pavilion.
The short, 30-second clip for each team shows the players speaking in Cantonese while inviting fans to watch the tournament featuring some of the best commercial ballclubs around Asia.
They also try to promote Macau as a tourist destination.
Both San Miguel and TnT Katropa are seeing action in the meet for the first time, while Blackwater will be having its second stint after playing in last year’s edition along with NLEX.
Blackwater is bracketed in Group A along with Chiba Jets and Seoul SK Knights.
San Miguel on the other hand, is in Group B together with Shenzhen Aviators and defending champion Ryukyu Golden Kings, while TnT Katropa joins Liaoning Flying Leopards and Niigata Albirex Basketball in Group D.
