THE PBA will have a new home as recently-launched television network RPTV will be showing the games live for the rest of the season starting with Game One of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals on Friday.
Cignal official Rissa Guilas announced the new TV partnership during the PBA Finals press conference on the day that RPTV went on air for the first time after taking over the Channel 9 frequency from CNN Philippines.

“We are very happy to announce that starting today, all PBA games would be broadcast live on our new free-to-air channel platform RPTV Channel 9.
Guilas said live games produced by Sports5 will still be aired on PBA Rush on Cignal TV and Pilipinas Live app, while A2Z will broadcast the matches on a delayed basis.
Channel 9 will now have more PBA games on the network after CNN Philippines aired the weekend matches during the conference until the news channel closed at the end of January.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial welcomed the move, saying that the league enjoyed high ratings during the games shown on Channel 9 especially Game Three of the semifinals between San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra.
This despite the promotion of the games on Channel 9 not yet in full blast.
“Maganda para sa PBA at maganda sa fans. Malaking bagay dahil nabibigyan natin ng wider reach ang PBA sa mga fans,” said Marcial.
“Ang ratings natin (Ginebra-San Miguel game), 3.5. Kulang kulang na 2.5 million ang nanood sa atin sa Channel 9,” said Marcial.
“Hindi pa nila masyadong alam ‘yun. Next conference at finals, makikita na nila kung saan (mapapanood), gaganda ratings natin,” he added.
