IT seemed like history repeated itself when NLEX star Kevin Alas tore the ACL on his right knee again, less than a year after the suffering the same injury.
It was a heartbreaking scene that was difficult to watch as Alas writhed in pain on Saturday. And it was much more difficult to watch for Alas’ girlfriend Selina Dagdag.
The PBA courtside reporter, however, stood strong and once again became his number one supporter during this most difficult time.
“My love...I know it’s beyond heartbreaking to go through this again. I wish so bad I can carry a portion of your world at the moment,” she posted on her social media account.
“I’ve seen all your hard work and all your sacrifices. I’ve seen you endure all the difficulties and fight through your insecurities. I’ve seen you hope and dream. I can only imagine how frustrating this situation is…” she added.
But Dagdag remained optimistic that Alas can, again, make it through.
Although there is nothing she can do to undo the damage, she assured him that she will be there for him every step of the way, holding his hand and not letting go no matter what.
“But do know I am with you in this rewind. There is no doubt in my mind God sees how good a man you are, even on your toughest days,” she said.
“Above all the good things about you, it’s your unwavering faith in Him that moves me the most. He will bless you,” she added.
“Love, I know I can’t guarantee you happiness every step of the way; I may not even be enough to cheer you up on your toughest days... but I promise I’ll always be here to sit with you in the dark. I love you always and in all ways,” she continued.
In his own social media post, Alas thanked everyone who prayed for him and sent their well-wishes. He kept a positive attitude in dealing with yet another ACL injury.
“This is a tough situation for me, but tough times don't last. This will only make me more resilient and much stronger,” he said.
“Thank you to my girlfriend Selina, my Family, my Coaches, the NLEX Management, my teammates, and my friends who have always been behind me to support me,” he added.
“The goal now is to move forward, recover, get healthy and attack my rehab again,” he continued.
