ANTIPOLO -- Paul Desiderio might already be in the PBA, but his heart remains in UP.
The Cebuano guard pulled off a stunt at the expense of his girlfriend Agatha Uvero, inserting an "Affidavit of Love" on her bag which she mistook as a reading.
"Found this in my bag while in class. Accidentally pulled it out instead of my handout," tweeted Uvero on Wednesday.
The "affidavit" declared, "That for the said purpose, I want to confess that I really love Ms. Jean Agatha C. Uvero."
It was a cheesy stunt, especially with Valentine's Day fast approaching, and for Desiderio, that's what he had on his mind when he pulled it off.
"Wala lang. Syempre, diskarteng ano lang tayo. Malapit na Valentines eh, advance lang," he said while chuckling.
It may not mean much, but it seems like it has helped Desiderio get off of his slow start in the pro ranks.
The Fighting Maroon cult hero netted his PBA career-best of 12 points, to go with two assists and a rebound in Blackwater's 95-114 loss to Phoenix on Friday.
Rather than be down from the defeat, Desiderio is keeping himself positive as he now gets his bearings in the PBA.
"Dahan-dahan ko lang sinusuklian yung trust ni coach Bong (Ramos). Lagi niyang sinasabi na, 'Diskarte ka. Kaya mo yan.' Kailangan ko rin ma-earn yung trust niya sa akin," he said.
Inspired as he may be, Desiderio said that he's still waiting for a response from Uvero, especially with him celebrating his 22nd birthday on Saturday.
"Wala pa ngang bawi. Birthday ko nga bukas eh," he rued.
Just you wait, Paul.
