WE THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE, but as it turns out, PareShabu is actually a real dining place, located nowhere else but in Cavite—and of course, it had to be in the quirkiest region of the Philippines.
PareShabu takes the form of a prison, using what looks like a repurposed shipping container fitted with iron bars to make it look like a jail cell. The crew wears orange uniforms with a black letter P on the back as if they were inmates.
One time, when the crew was on a break and went to a convenience store, the staff there thought they were actually escaped prisoners.

PareShabu Menu
As the restaurant's name suggests, PareShabu offers pares and shabu-shabu. Starting at P60, you can get a hot pares meal that is filling and flavorful, quite unlike the actual prison food being served in our penitentiaries.

Although pares is a specialty at PareShabu, its hearty fare of sizzling platters is also sumptuous. They serve Filipino staples such as fried liempo, pork chop, and sisig, but there are also steaks such as rib-eye and porterhouse.
Their shabu-shabu is served in separate bowls, but you can order additional items for the stew: beef for P30, tripe (tuwalya) for P20, corn for P10, noodles for P10, Chinese cabbage (pechay) for P10, and a variety of balls for P15.
