TO ENSURE the smoother flow of traffic during the SEA Games, the NLEX Corporation is suspending all construction work (except road repairs) on the NLEX and SCTEX when the Southeast Asian Games opens this November 30.
The opening will be held in the massive Philippine Arena at Bocaue, Bulacan, so officials are expecting a flood of motorists to pour into the North Luzon Expressway and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.
However, trucks will still be free to use these highways, except in the municipalities of Bocaue, Marilao, and Sta. Maria in Bulacan. This area-specific truck ban will take effect from November 29, a day before the ceremony, to November 30.

In addition, the company, which manages the NLEX, will devote two exclusive toll lanes at Balintawak Toll Plaza (northbound) and Bocaue Toll Plaza (southbound), just for official SEA Games convoys. Motorists should be ready for a stop-and-go scheme at EDSA Balintawak Cloverleaf and NLEX Balintawak Toll Plaza to allow these convoys to pass.
NLEX Corporation will be deploying 100 additional personnel throughout the duration of the Games at key areas along the highway.
“We assure all athletes, officials and spectators from abroad, as well as our fellow Filipinos, that they will enjoy smooth traffic flow and security at the NLEX and SCTEX for the duration of the Games”, said NLEX President J. Luigi Bautista in a statement.
