NICO Elorde went back to work on Wednesday for NorthPort for their PBA Governors’ Cup match just a day after his wedding.
The 27-year-old grandson of the great boxer Gabriel 'Flash' Elorde exchanged 'I do's' with Mich Del Carmen, his girlfriend on 11 years, in ceremonies held at Solaire on Tuesday night.
But the former Ateneo guard hardly missed a beat as he was back in action for NorthPort's game against Columbian at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The professional that he is, Elorde said he was ready to play since the couple was prepared for the eventuality since their wedding was held during the season.
“Dinelay na lang namin (honeymoon) kasi alam naman namin na season ‘yung kasal namin,” said Elorde, who played for 12 minutes and scored five points.
“Trabaho din talaga tapos kailangan eh. Kailangan ko matulungan ‘yung team. As much as kaya naman makatulong, gagawin.
“Sayang kinulang pa rin,” said Elorde.
Elorde said it has been a busy past few weeks for them, but he was still able to balance out the preparations for the wedding with his training with the Batang Pier.
But with the help of Del Carmen as well as Elorde’s mother, they were able to arrange everything related to the wedding.
“Nagte-training naman ako the whole week. Kahapon lang wala. Game day preparation naman, kahapon na lang din. Sobrang busy. Medyo mahirap talaga i-balance. Mostly, si Mich naman nag-aasikaso at si mama. Tulungan sila,” said Elorde.
Elorde said he is excited for the next chapter of his life after getting married to his high school sweetheart.
“Siyempre, sobrang saya kasi kahapon, anniversary namin," said the NorthPort guard. "Since high school pa kami."
