KEVIN Alas and Selina Dagdag officially got married in a simple civil wedding yesterday, September 8 — a year and two months after the NLEX skipper had proposed to the courtside reporter.
But they told SPIN Life that while the road to the wedding was filled with sacrifices, they were thankful that their relationship had already been founded on a firm foundation.
Both were busy making waves in their careers, and both had to make a fair share of adjustments to make it work.
But they revealed one of the things that helped them keep their relationship healthy is the act of simply having each other’s back.
“In every relationship, there’s going to be struggles, but you just have to be resilient and focus on loving each other through everything,” Alas told SPIN Life. “On good and bad days, you just have to stick by each other and I think that’s what love is.”
Selina also explained how having similar interests is helpful in keeping the love alive. After all, it was their love for sports that led them to finding each other.
“We met when I covered his game back in 2017! It was the second game pa lang I ever covered in the PBA. It helps that we work in the same community, and have a lot of common friends and common interests,” she said. “There are endless things to talk about and endless ways to encourage and help each other.”
But the most useful relationship advice they can give to couples?
“My No. 1 tip for all couples out there is to pursue God first. Keep Him front and center. Things fall joyfully into place when you do that,” Selina said.
