AS early as August, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) already expressed fears that the traffic level in the metro is already approaching 'holiday levels.'
In the actual holiday season, the MMDA wiIl also have to content with the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, which runs from November 30 to December 11, right before the Christmas rush. Several big-ticket events, including the basketball and volleyball matches, will be held in Metro Manila.
Fortunately, the Metro Manila Development Authority is getting ready for the SEA Games.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, MMDA traffic chief Bong Nebrija said they are gearing up for the country's hosting of the SEA Games as they aim for fast mobility of athletes and officials during the SEA Games.
"We will be busy with the SEA Games," Nebrija said. "There will be a lot of events to be held in Metro Manila aside from the fact that all billeting of the contingent will be here in Metro Manila. The movement of the athletes and VIPs are really very crucial and critical during those times."
He added, "Our deployment will be full for the SEA Games."
