MICHELE Gumabao tied the knot with her partner of eight years, Aldo Panlilio, in a Catholic wedding ceremony on Tuesday — the first of two marriage rites as a Christian union will follow in the next months.
The reigning PVL Invitational Conference MVP added quite an unusual touch to both her bachelorette party and first wedding ceremony, attended by her Creamline family.

Fans were quick to notice the unique black aesthetic which isn’t a common theme in Filipino weddings.
Gumabao, however, bared how the black color scheme wasn’t just an odd choice but rather her own spin on what she described as a ‘funeral’ of the ‘death of her single life.’
“Ako kasi, I'm a fun person, and ako talaga pumili ng theme na ‘yun. Sabi ko, nakita ko siya online and gusto ko siyang gayahin,” the 32-year-old Cool Smashers star said.
And so, she was dead set on bringing her brainchild to life even if it meant raising a few eyebrows on veering away from the norms of the Filipino wedding culture.
“It was really a funeral theme. Para siyang death to your single life,” Gumabao-Panlilio said.
“I think hindi siya ginagawa talaga dito sa Philippines. Probably because alam mo ‘yun, shy ‘yung mga tao. Takot sila ma-bash.
“Pero ako, alam mo naman, hindi ko pinapansin ‘yung mga ganun kaya sabi ko, I really wanted to do it. It looked like a really fun theme and it was my idea talaga.”
To happily-ever-afters
While weddings would usually be followed by the idea of raising families already, that isn’t on the agenda yet for the Panlilios as another ceremony will follow before they continue to run the course of their respective careers.
For Gumabao, in particular, spending more time on the taraflex with Creamline is still high up her priority list.
Retirement? Not just yet.
“Sana rin talaga we can build a family like paano kami pinalaki ng mga magulang namin, and how family is important to us,’ Gumabao said.
“Pero medyo matagal pa yun. Focus muna kami sa career namin pareho.”
