FROM mountaineering apps, new hiking shoes and dedicated experts, lifestyle enthusiasts with a penchant for adventure will find it easier to explore the great outdoors with a new campaign from Merell and the Department of Tourism.
The popular outdoor brand on Friday launched a more holistic approach in the 2016 edition of their award-winning Merrell’s ‘Getaway To Adventure’ that will send aspiring travelers to explore breath-taking regions in the country.
Partnering with Merell in the advocacy of promoting safe and fun adventures are Trail Adventours, PH Mountains App, Looloo App, Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).
Last year, ‘Getaway to Adventure’ awarded the Philippine Quill Awards for Excellence in the Communication Management category.
Department of Tourism TPB chief operating officer Domingo Ramon C. Enerio III said “Merrell’s ‘Getaway To Adventure’ dovetails with the DOT’s and TPB’s efforts to highlight the diverse attractions of our over 7,700 tropical islands, whether popular or unchartered, and promote the Philippines as "Asia Pacific’s adventure capital, serving international and domestic travelers who choose to explore the great outdoors.”
This year, Merrell pushes the boundaries of adventure even further by launching a more ambitious campaign through projects that reach out to more people and create bigger impact on the environment and the community.
Apart from leisure and adventure travels, Merrell is also supporting ‘Voluntourism’ — volunteering and tourism — by giving back to nature through creating programs that protect the environment and cultural treasures of the country in partnership with the DOT and TPB. In fact, the brand has been globally active in outdoor advocacies that include the preservation of wildlife parks.
Trail Adventours, a mountain tour company led by a team of outdoor enthusiasts, offers quality trekking packages, advocates the Leave No Trace (L.N.T.) rule and ensures safe and fun hikes. The company’s vision is in line with Merrell’s goal in providing durable footwear that offers protection while hiking. Trail Adventours is the official agency of Merrell since 2014.
The event, held at the Basil restaurant in White Plains, Quezon City, also introduced Merell’s new brand ambassadors: seasoned hiker Coby Sarreal, Pro Xterra athlete Joseph Miller and one of the country's top trail runners, Thumbie Remigio.
Also highlighted is the PH Mountains App, an app for mountaineers created by mountaineers that offers a comprehensive mountain list, mountain map, gear checklist, and even a store locator for outdoor gear.
Merell also introduced two of its newest pairs of adventure footwear -- the Capra Bolt and Capra Rapid. Both shoes offer protection and support, making them ideal choices for speed hiking and water adventures.
