HAVING starred in a few locally produced movies over the past few years, Philippine men's volleyball team captain John Vic de Guzman is excited to embark on his new journey as a Kapuso artist.
Moreover, he plans to use his new job to promote his sport even more.
"Isa rin naman ito sa mga gusto ko talagang gawin. I entered the industry a few years ago, and sinet aside ko muna siya para sa National Team," he told SPIN Life. "Mas makaka-encourage tayo ng mga batang balibolista na piliin ang volleyball as a sport.
The 6-foot-2 spiker first made his debut in the big screens in 2016, where he played a role in horror movie Seklusyon. He also appeared in the films Class of 2018 and Wild and Free.
Last year, he took a break from his acting career to lead the national team for the 30th Southeast Asian Games, where it made a historic run and finished with a silver.
"Thankful talaga ako na kahit papaano I made a mark sa volleyball. May naiwan tayong history sa NCAA and sa national team, so syempre, kahit saan ako makarating bitbit ko ang pagiging balibolista," he said.
Now eager to jumpstart his showbiz career, John Vic looks forward to having more projects in front of the camera.
"Now na pahinga pa sa volleyball, thankful ako na welcome pa rin ako sa entertainment industry. Dito ko naman pagbubutihan ang training para may maabot din tayo dito," he shared. " I'm [excited to] do movies again, be part of a teleserye, go back sa hosting, and kumanta na din."
