GILAS Pilipinas was unable to handle the heat - literally and figuratively - in a game against a souped-up Cambodia side, 68-78, at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Thursday in Phnom Penh.

The loss - the first-ever in basketball by a Philippine team to Cambodia - sent Twitter in a a frenzy as fans expressed their anger and frustration, both at Gilas and the hosts' uncommon number of naturalized players.
But the most shocking reaction came from the chairman emeritus of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas himself.
Basketball patron Manny V. Pangilinan, in a shocking post on his official Twitter page, expressed his disgust over a 'disgraceful game' and said the 'ignominious defeat will be etched deeply in infamy.'

At posting time, there is no word on whether the PLDT big boss' account was hacked or the tweet was an expression of his frustration over how a basketball program that he helped put up and fund has taken a turn for the worse.
