JASON Webb is quick to adjust to his new job as the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots governor, executing trades and making other crucial team decisions while also having a say on PBA policies as a member of the board.
But at home, there’s someone more powerful than him.
For those who don’t know, the longtime Magnolia assistant coach and one-time head coach has been in a relationship with actress Mylene Dizon for 12 years.

So what’s the secret to lasting more than decade with a celebrity partner?
“Alam mo, there's one word that every guy has to master,” Webb began to explain in the Locked Down podcast on Sports Beat PH. “Three letters lang yun: Y-E-S. Yes! Yes ka lang na yes! ‘Di ba? ‘Kasalanan mo ito, ‘di ba?’ Yes! Wala nang problema.”
“Pag pinilitan mo yun ng ‘no,’ away yan. Yes lang ng yes.”
“Kidding aside, it means mature na kami na tapos na kami sa mga away-away,” he was quick to add.
Webb, 52, and the 49-year-old Dizon surely learned a lot from their previous relationships. Webb was once married to TV host Claudine Trillo, with whom he has two daughters in Gabrielle and Tatiana. Dizon also has two kids, Lucas and Tomas, with fellow actor and former boyfriend Paolo Paraiso.
Still, Webb, a former star guard at La Salle who played for Sta. Lucia and Tanduay in the PBA, admitted having to adjust and learn about Dizon during their first few years as a couple – as most partners go through.
“We probably fought so much in our first four or five years because we were made individually,” Webb said. “Iba pa 'yung learning about each other. Pag bata ka, malleable kami. Pag matanda ka, medyo brittle ka na eh. Masakit na pag tinitry mo mag-bend for somebody else eh.”
“So, today, at least we were able to bend na pantay na kami. It took a while,” he added.
“We hope to have another 12, 24, 36 more years. Kung hanggang saan pa aabot 'yung edad namin,” he added. The couple celebrated their 12th anniversary last November.
Love dance
Asked if there are similarities between managing Magnolia players’ egos and dealing with an alpha female like Dizon, Webb thought hard before answering.
“You know, a relationship is like a dance. And in our dance, she's the lead … Siya 'yung manager,” Webb said with a chuckle.
“But, you know, we work hand in hand. Most of the time siya, at least I think,” he added. “Ano yan: difference in perspective, ‘di ba? Tingin mo, mas nagle-lead ‘to, mas nagle-lead yung isa. Feeling ko siya.”
