Only Twitter Magic Johnson can have 16 NBA MVP candidates

The good thing about Magic Johnson leaving the Los Angeles Lakers' front office is that he has a lot of time on his hands to his bless our Twitter feeds with his gloriously generic "hot takes."

Earlier this week, the NBA great reminded everyone that he's loving the competitive balance in the current NBA and thought it was a good idea to round up his favorite players for Most Valuable Player this season. Check that — Twitter Magic rattled off 17 names as his MVP candidates.

Other than his questionable choices (Jayson Tatum, Ben Simmons, really?), Johnson not exactly getting the concept of front-runners is what caused his followers to clown the five-time champion. Former player and basketball analyst Kendrick Perkins didn't mince his words in calling out Magic.
