Despite its apparent similarities, Polar, the new badass assassin movie that will be streaming on Netflix starting January 25, is actually based on a graphic novel older than John Wick. So, no, Keanu, you don’t get the points for this one.
Polar stars Mads Mikkelsen, the Danish actor you might know as the big baddie from Casino Royale, or as the younger Hannibal Lecter on Hannibal, or maybe even as the b*tch who better have Rihanna’s money in Rihanna’s “B*tch Better Have My Money.”
Mikkelsen is the “The Black Kaiser,” an assassin who is on the verge of hanging up his guns until his greedy boss sends a squad of young and ruthless killers to take him out. Now he must put the good life on hold, put on his eyepatch, save his cute neighbor, and essentially massacre everyone in brutal but stylish fashion.
The movie also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick, Matt Lucas, Ruby O. Fee, Fei Ren, Anthony Grant, Josh Cruddas, Robert Maillet, Julian Richings, Johnny Knoxville, and Richard Dreyfuss.
