WELCOME to the family.
Phoenix coach Louie Alas shared how happy he and his family are about the engagement of his son, Kevin, to his girlfriend Selina Dagdag.
The proud father said he actually wanted to take part in Kevin's planned surprise for the PBA courtside reporter, but the NLEX star opted to propose sans dad's help during an out of the country vacation late June.
“Actually we [our family] love Selina,” he said. “And ‘yung unang plano nga namin ni Kevin [I told him] ‘let me get involved,’ pero doon nga niya ginawa sa Taiwan.
“Alam ko [‘yung plano], nagkukwento naman ‘yan sa amin. Actually si Liza [wife ko] nga iyak nang iyak eh, tears of joy. Sobrang saya namin because formal nang engaged sila.”
If it's up to him, though, coach Louie wants Kevin and Selina to get married right away.
“Tinanong ako ni Kevin, ‘Dad, kailan ang best time magpakasal?’ Sabi ko ang best time is kapag walang kumukontra. Kung ako nga lang ang masusunod, kahit bukas magpakasal na sila, kaya,” he said.
Much as coach Louie is excited about his son's upcoming wedding, what he's looking forward to the most is the opportunity to be a doting granddad to his second grandchild.
Currently, the Phoenix tactician is madly in love with Kamryn, the five-month-old daughter of his eldest son Junjun. “Sabi ko nga, the next big thing [after the engagement] is the wedding, but there is bigger than that — and that is ‘yung apo.”
