APPARENTLY, the recent PBA Commissioner’s Cup title was not the first for Von Pessumal in a Barangay Ginebra uniform.
On Wednesday, Pessumal revealed through his Instagram account that he once played for Barangay Ginebra in 2005 in a junior PBA tournament now called Batang PBA.
Pessumal posted photos and videos of him capturing the crown and playing at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. He was around 12 years old at that time.
CHECK IT OUT:
Before the pandemic, PBA teams had Batang PBA counterparts where the kids competed wearing jerseys with the names of their adult counterparts.
Pessumal’s case was no exception as he wore Aris Dimaunahan’s No. 88 jersey. Dimaunahan was one of the deadshot three-point shooters in the team at that time.
“Jr. PBA made us kids wear jerseys of the current PBA players. I was wearing #88 which was now Coach Aris Dimaunahan,” wrote Pessumal.
The post drew several comments from his contemporaries including teammate Jared Dillinger, former Ateneo teammate Kiefer Ravena, and Terrafirma veteran Alex Cabagnot.
