“PARA sa mas ligtas na pagpadyak.”
This statement united FJ Bikes, a Bulacan-based cycling shop, and printing outlet Brewing Ideas Designs and Prints motivated them to produce over a hundred reflective sashes and give them away for free to bikers.
With limited transporation options still available because of the quarantine, many commuters are now going around on bicycles.
“Kahapon siguro nasa hundred plus na naipagawa and naipamigay namin. Hopefully, pati sa ibang lugar makapamigay kami.”
As cycling enthusiasts themselves, they know the dangers faced by bikers daily whenever out in the streets. It’s also a way to support an industry that is once again thriving.
“It’s a way of thanking na bike na din ‘yung ginagamit ngayon dahil walang commute,” he said.
Lourdes Pascual, Brewing Ideas representative, added: “Ito ‘yung way namin to give back to the community.
The idea, however, was adapted from the initiatives of volunteer bikers from Metro Manila, the “Kita Kita” project of folding bike organization Tiklop Society of the Philippines and the UP Mountaineers.
Both FJ Bikes and Brewing Ideas were inspired by Manila-based initiative to do the same in their province, where biking is also the main means of transport this lockdown period.
