Recent stats released by the NBA confirm that outside of the US, Pinoy fans made up 29.5 percent of all views of LeBron’s highlights on the league’s official YouTube channel.
The Lakers forward is truly a titan, not just on the court, but on social media, too.
LeBron has 72 million followers on Instagram – the 31st most-followed account across the entire network. He is also the most followed American athlete on Instagram, and the fourth most followed athlete across the world... just behind football stalwarts Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.
When the NBA released a Top 35 Plays highlight reel for James’ 35th birthday, the video became one of the league’s most-watched clips. Since its posting, it has racked up more than 42 million views on Facebook.
Interestingly enough, viewers from the Philippines made up 24.5 percent of those 42 million views.
If there’s any doubt that LeBron James remains the hoops world’s most visible star, no less than the President of the United States took the time to take potshots at the Lakers forward mere hours before Game 5.
“LeBron is a spokesman for the Democratic Party and a very nasty spokesman,” fumed Donald Trump on The Rush Limbaugh Show. “He’s a hater.”
Still, Trump conceded: “He's a great basketball player, but people don't wanna see a guy that way.”
