KOBE Bryant spent his second and last day in Manila launching a limited edition of his popular signature Nike shoe and teaching his Mamba Mentality philosophy to young ballers and sneakerheads.
According to Nike, the five-time NBA champion went to visit the Nike Park Fort on Sunday and as part of his Mamba Mentality Tour Manila 2016, launched a limited edition Kobe 11 Elite Low that will exclusively be available only in the Philippines and China.
The 24 fans – dubbed the “Mamba Disciples” – were given the first chance to get a pair of the Nike Kobe 11 Elite GCR (Great Career Recall) which was worn by Kobe in Day One of his visit, a model reminiscent of his "Fade to Black" that he wore in his last NBA game where he scored 60 points.
A source said only 300 pairs would be sold in the country.
Kobe also held an “intimate closed door session with select diehard fans from all walks of life” where he shared more information on what the Mamba Mentality is, his future plans, and his obsession with product design.
The Black Mamba also signed a miniature version of his tribute at Smart Araneta Coliseum at the store before he finished his seventh visit to Manila.
Prior to the shoe launch, Bryant kicked off with Kobe Academy, which was held at Kerry Sports Hall on Sunday morning. There 24 young players were trained by the Black Mamba who led strength and conditioning drills inspired by Kobe’s own workouts.
The 24 were selected from a pool of 300 basketball players who were put through their paces at the Kobe Academy Pre-Camp last June 22 – 24. Training sessions begun at 4 a.m., a nod to the early mornings Kobe trained before team practice when he was playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Mamba Mentality is a philosophy derived from Kobe’s approach to the game, and his aspirations of chasing perfection through hard work, resilience and passion in every aspect of life on and off the court.
