KENNETH Duremdes is entering the political arena after the Maharlikang Pilipinas Bagong Lipunan (MPBL) party-list filed its certificate of nomination and acceptance for the 2025 midterm elections on Monday.
Duremdes is one of the nominees of the party-list which is being led by Ron Munsayac, who served as spokesperson of Manny Pacquiao during his presidential bid in 2022. Jinky Pacquiao is also a nominee of the MPBL party-list.
Incidentally, Pacquiao has also filed his certificate of candidacy for senator on Monday.
Duremdes is eyeing a seat in Congress while in his capacity as commissioner of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
He became known for his playing career in the PBA where he won the 1998 MVP during the season where he also won two Finals MVPs for Alaska.
Duremdes also won six championships in the PBA with Swift and Alaska, and had a 13-year playing career before moving to coaching, and eventually as MPBL commissioner.
The MPBL party-list is focusing on creating a grassroots program to discover new talents and follow the footsteps of great Filipino athletes such as Pacquiao.
