"While grieving the greatest loss in our family, my brothers have just lost their homes and all of their belongings in this devastating tragedy but I thank God my family is safe, alive, and together at this moment," Mau said.

"If there is one thing I am certain about our people of Hawai’i, is that when we come together in unity, we persevere and kōkua [help] each other and our ‘Aina [love] in ways unimaginable," she added.
Mau raised a call for help for the people of Hawaii.
"To my mainland friends that have ever visited our islands and have recieved the Aloha our people so freely give, I ask you to please donate / help if you are in a position to. Info and links in my bio and highlighted story. “KŌKUA MAUI" [Help Maui]. Anything helps. Mahalo Nui Loa [Thank you very much]," Mau said.
