IT’S summer once again and it’s time to grab your swimwear and hit the beach.
Island girl Kalei Mau, who’s more than excited for summer, has a jampacked schedule for the season.
The United VC team captain bared her plans for summer, which includes going back home to Hawaii, exploring the islands of the Philippines, physical therapy, and, training with the national team.
“I have a plan to go after this season to go home at Hawaii,” said Mau. “My Hawaiian grandpa is the one who's harder to travel so he can't visit but he's very important to me.”
“So, I think, if I have a few days off in between the playoffs and the training of the national team, I want to take off and see my grandpa at home,” she added.
If one would take a peek at her Instagram acoount, Mau shows her adventurous and outgoing side.
From going on a beach trip with her friends to traveling on a road trip with her teammates, Mau surely is an adventurer who enjoys the thrill of the outdoors which is why she didn’t hesitate to include traveling the islands of the country this summer season.
“My boyfriend is gonna finish his professional basketball season and actually at the beginning of April. So I'm thinking maybe that if we have another break off we would love to explore some other islands,” she shared. “Palawan would be my first. El Nido is my first stop.”
The prolific UVC spiker also revealed why summer holds a special place in her heart.
“Meeting the love of my life [Brandon Jawato during one summer]. That was fun. I met him at Sandy Beach in Honolulu,” she amusingly shared.
Mau’s favorite travel buddy is her Indonesian-American partner, Brandon Jawato, who plays for Indonesia’s CLS Knights in the ASEAN Basketball League.
When asked for her dream summer destinations, Mau beamed with joy.
“I really wanna go to the Maldives, to Bora-bora. I would love to go Camaro Island in Indonesia. I really wanna go to Peru,” she said.
