A VIRTUAL meetup for two Filipino frontliners (and big time NBA fans) ended up with a surprise guest: Jordan Clarkson himself.
"You guys are real heroes. You keep this thing whole thing moving. What you do is harder than putting ball in the basket," the Fil-Am Utah Jazz guard said in a meet and greet via videocall arranged by NBA Philippines' Facebook show, Republika Huddle, hosted by Nikko Ramos.
The 28-year-old guard acknowledged the hard work Dr. Jelvin Co and school teacher CD Lastimosa put in over the pandemic in their respective fields.
"Thank you. You guys see everything in making a change and difference. I appreciate everything you do for everybody, I hope you continue to do great things," he said.
The country has gone through an extraordinary amount of crises over the past few months, from the volcano eruption to the coronavirus breakout to widespread flooding that challenged many parts of the country.
While the NBA usually conducts basketball clinics, court refurbishment, and other charitable events before the pandemic, this meetup was one of its simple ways of giving back to the Filipino community, who continued to love the game of basketball.
NBA Store PH also sent Co and Lastimosa gift packages as tokens of appreciation for their dedication.
