OUT OF the court, Jordan Bartlett is dishing out assists — this time, for victims of the Mindanao quakes that struck the island on the latter half of October.
The De La Salle University guard has gone all out in offering a hand to the victims of the recent earthquakes, utilizing his 21,000-strong Instagram following to call for donations for the PUSO Foundation’s relief operations program.
At least 22 people were killed and more than 400 injured following a series of earthquakes that struck Cotabato, Davao, and other parts of Mindanao from October 16 to 31.
On Instagram, Bartlett implored: “There was a series of earthquakes in Mindanao that managed to kill dozens of people, leave buildings in ruins, and displace hundreds of thousands of people. We were able to rush this supply haul over today... but we need YOUR help in putting together a second care package for the Mindanao/Davao victims."
Alongside his social media campaigning, the Fil-Am skipper, who is also the director of the Purposeful Unconditional Service to Others (PUSO) Foundation, personally makes time to gather and prepare the relief goods and donations received by PUSO, which will be sent to Mindanao.
Bartlett also expressed his delight, thanking everyone who provided aid, may it be financial, physical, or spiritual.
“This won’t be possible without God, and when we give we really reflect God’s character," the 22-year-old said in an Instagram video. "Giving can be way more than financial as it is also giving your time and effort. God values unselfish service to others, and as believers, we’re called to serve unselfishly by pouring our hearts out to pray and support. As volunteers, we’ll make sure to put these goods in the right hands, and continue praying for the victims, thank you."
Prior to the tragedy, Bartlett has long been supporting the foundation, conducting sports camps, relief projects, outreach programs, and other youth development initiatives to select communities.
