JOLINA Dela Cruz made jeepney drivers smile in these challenging times through her online bakery, It's Jolicious.

In La Salle's only UAAP game last March, Dela Cruz led the rookie-laden Lady Spikers to a promising title-redemption bid with a four-set win over defending champion Ateneo Lady Eagles

Six months after the remainder of UAAP Season 82 was scrapped by Coronavirus Pandemic, the sophomore opposite spiker brought hope to the struggling jeepney drivers, who are heavily affected by the restrictions in public transportation this pandemic.

On her 21st birthday last September 5, 50 percent of her bakery's two-week earnings was donated to Piston PH.

"It started mga two weeks before my birthday. Naisip ko na maximize yung online bakery ko and to give 50% of my income for two weeks to our jeepney drivers," Dela Cruz told Spin.ph.

"Lagi ko kasi nakikita through social media yung mga articles and pictures ng mga jeepney drivers natin na nag susuffer because of the lockdown. So naisipan ko mag help kahit sa maliit na paraan."

"Sila yung nag pick up nung relief goods sa house ko and sila na din nag distribute. From what I know, Manila area sila nakapag distribute. As much as gusto ko mag-ikot and mag distribute personally, pinili ko nalang to stay home and syempre not to risk yung health ko and health ng family ko," she added.

The spiker from Bulacan was happy to see the smiles of the jeepney drivers after Piston PH received her donations.

The organization expressed their gratitude to the young Lady Spiker on social media.

"Siyempre sobrang nakaka touch na dahil sa online bakery ko naka help ako in my own little way," she added.

Dela Cruz decided to open an online bakery last July since she loves pastries and her aunt is good at baking.
