FORMER basketball star Jimmy Alapag has always been a leader on the court. And now that he's a father, he is using the sport he loves to teach his son, Ian, a valuable life lesson.
On Thursday, Alapag, now part of the coaching staff of San Miguel, posted on his Instagram account a video of him and his little boy playing at an indoor basketball court.
The six-year-old boy was attempting to shoot the ball, which was barely touching the ring in the beginning.
“This life will have its challenges my son,” he posted. “Stay strong, stay resilient, and have fun along the way. We’ll always be here to support you!”
Alapag patiently taught and demonstrated how the shot was supposed to be done, and after several attempts, little Ian finally made the shot.
The former national team skipper was ecstatic and carried his son across the court in celebration.
“Proud of you my son! We love you!!!” he posted.
