NEW CLARK CITY – So this is why he is ‘The Blur.’
Jayson Castro was into track and field during his younger days before eventually shifting to basketball, where he has carved a career as one of the finest playmakers not only in the country but in the entire Asian region as well.
His forte on the track? The 100-meter event.
“Nung high school ako track and field talaga ang sport ko. Nag 100-meters ako sa school namin,” recalled Castro as he watched the athletics competitions of the 30th Southeast Asian Games from the stands of the New Clark City Stadium together with his family.

Castro, who hails from Bacolor, Pampanga, was a member of the track and field team of Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (formerly DHVCAT) and competed in the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA).
The highest medal finish he had was silver.
“Puro mga college na kasi yung kadalasang nakakalaban ko. Kaya hanggang silver lang ang nakuha ko,” said the TnT Katropa point guard.
He was into track and field from 2001 to 2003 before basketball came calling.
But his love for the sport has never waned and on this cool Sunday night, ‘The Blur’ relived his younger days as he watched the Filipino tracksters in action.
