Japeth Aguilar and wife Cassy set up donation drive for frontliners

Mar 18, 2020

QUICK to respond to the call for help of frontline health workers, Japeth Aguilar and wife Cassy Naidas-Aguilar are raising funds to donate thousands of face masks to hospitals all over the country.

Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, health professionals are experiencing a shortage of equipment.

“As we are sitting in the comfort of our own homes, frontliners are risking their lives to save ours. Let’s help them in any way we can,” Cassy wrote on her Facebook post. “I will be donating 40 boxes myself. I’m looking for more donations to be able to help hospital staff. Most hospitals have no more masks and alcohol and are encouraged to bring their own masks or use makeshift masks.”

Using their huge following on social media, the couple decided to call for financial donations from willing netizens. Delivery and the negotiation with the supplier will be taken care of by Japeth and Cassy.

“If you have any amount you can spare, this will go a long way. We need to step up and help each other in times like this,” she continued.

The couple assured their followers that all the collected money will be out to good use.

“I will be posting purchase receipts here to assure you that I will not be using the money for personal use. ALL masks purchased through your donations will be given to hospitals and other frontliners in need of protection," wrote Cassy.

Japeth and Cassy have been very vocal online about reminding the citizens to follow precautionary measures to prevent transmission of the novel coronavirus. They've also been encouraging netizens to donate to various initiatives that would help out medical personnel in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
