FROM one captain to another, Alyssa Valdez was the lucky recipient of a special gift from none other than Japan's men's volleyball team skipper Yuki Ishikawa.
With a huge assist from her Creamline teammate Celine Domingo, who shared the Phenom's 'priceless reaction' on Instagram, Valdez received Ishikawa's jersey after their Volleyball Nations League stint in the Philippines.

Domingo jokingly described the gift as one that would "contribute to her volleyball career."
Valdez was among hundreds and thousands of Filipino fans who went out to support Japan during the VNL's Pasay City leg from July 4 to 9.

'The Phenom' was in attendance for Ryujin Nippon's fan event at the Mall of Asia Arena before the competition, where she and her Creamline teammates met Ishikawa & Co.
And if Alyssa hasn't already lived every Japan superfan's dream, she received a special video message from Ishikawa back in March during her recovery from a medical procedure on her knee.
"Good luck, Alyssa, and best of luck with your recovery," the Japan captain said through global insurance company Allianz, sponsor of Valdez' Creamline and Ishikawa's Italian mother club Allianz Milano.
Valdez & Co. return to Premier Volleyball League action versus PLDT on July 13, while Ishikawa's Japan side plays the VNL men's quarterfinals six days later against Slovenia.
