BOCAUE, Bulacan – Even the two-time PBA Grand Slam coach was starstruck by the presence of Pia Wurtzbach.

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone said he was glad to have the opportunity to meet the 2015 Miss Universe during the opening ceremony of the league on Sunday at the Philippine Arena where Wurtzbach was the muse.

“I got to meet Pia Wurtzbach,” said Cone during the postgame press conference. “She didn’t know who I was but I certainly know who she was.”

Cone described the atmosphere in the locker room on Sunday before its game against TNT. Since Ginebra had a game on Sunday, Wurtzbach had to stay in the locker room of the Kings as she prepared for the parade ushering in the league's 44th season.

“She was in our locker room for like an hour so we are all giving her glances. Trying not to but we were. It was fun having her there,” Cone said.

Cone said meeting a celebrity like Wurtzbach is just one of the things that makes the PBA opening ceremony a unique event.

“We were inspired two hours in the locker room. That’s also what makes the opening day fun, to come here and see all that,” said Cone.

Playing on opening day, though is also tough, according to Cone, even if Ginebra came out with a 90-79 win on Sunday against TNT.

“By and large, it was a long day. I’m glad we got through it on a positive side. Now, we are looking forward to playing the big boy – San Miguel – on Sunday,” Cone said.
